Summary
RacketTap stores everything on your device. The only data that leaves your device is what you explicitly choose to share — a match mirrored to a nearby friend's phone, or, if you opt in, a match's live score published to a shareable web link (see Online Live Score below). There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services.
What data RacketTap accesses
Apple Health
With your permission, RacketTap:
- Reads on the watch (during a match) your heart rate and active energy burned, so the live courtside scoreboard and the saved workout show your effort.
- Reads on the iPhone (around match dates, for analytics correlation) your sleep duration, resting heart rate, walking heart rate, HR variability (SDNN), VO2 max, blood oxygen saturation, and mindfulness minutes. These drive the Stats tab's Sleep Impact chart, Physiology Trend, and Today's Outlook readiness card. RacketTap may also read your date of birth (if available) to estimate your age-based maximum heart rate for the Heart Rate Zones display.
- Writes padel and tennis matches as a Tennis workout, and badminton matches as a Badminton workout (including the GPS route when location is granted), so each appears in your Apple Health and Fitness apps with the correct sport label alongside your other activity.
All Health data stays on your device — none of it is transmitted anywhere by RacketTap. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → RacketTap; declining or revoking still leaves every non-Health feature working.
Location
When you start a workout, RacketTap requests one location sample with "When in Use" permission. That single sample is attached to the Apple Health workout entry as its location, so the workout shows a small map marker indicating roughly where you played. Location is not stored in any other form, is not tracked continuously, and is not shared anywhere.
Weather
If a location sample is available, RacketTap fetches the current temperature and humidity at that location via Apple WeatherKit. These values are attached as workout metadata so they appear in the Apple Health workout entry. WeatherKit requests are handled by Apple under their privacy terms; RacketTap does not log or store the values separately.
Player names and match data
Player names, team names, set scores, point sequences, sport (padel / tennis / badminton), and venue labels are entered by you and stored on your device in Apple's SwiftData on-device store. On the iPhone, that store mirrors to your own private iCloud database (container iCloud.com.matankeret.PadelTap) so your match history survives device migrations and follows your Apple ID. No one but you has access to it — Apple's iCloud privacy terms govern that mirror, and RacketTap has no server-side component to which any of this could be sent. The Apple Watch persists locally only.
On-device AI
The Match Recap card and the AI Coach chat sheet use Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence, available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer with iOS 26). Your match history and recent Health signals form the input to the model, which generates responses entirely on your device — no prompt, no match data, and no Health data is sent to Apple, OpenAI, or any other service. On devices without Apple Intelligence, the same surfaces show a deterministic template summary computed locally from the same data.
What RacketTap does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no profiles.
- No data is sent to RacketTap servers — there are no RacketTap servers.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking.
- No advertising. No advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs of any kind.
Where your data lives
- On your Apple Watch. Match data is saved in the watch's own local SwiftData store. It is synced to your paired iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, which is a direct local link between your two devices and does not go through any network or cloud service.
- On your iPhone. A copy of your match history, plus any player names and venue labels you've added, is stored in the iPhone's local SwiftData store. That store mirrors to your own private iCloud database via CloudKit so re-installing on a new device restores everything via your Apple ID. RacketTap has no servers; the iCloud mirror is direct between your device and Apple's iCloud service.
- Apple Health. Workouts and the associated heart rate, calorie, location, and weather data are saved by Apple's HealthKit, governed by Apple's privacy controls — not by RacketTap.
- Live Share (phone-to-phone). When you share a live match with a nearby friend's iPhone, the two devices connect directly over Bluetooth / peer-to-peer Wi-Fi using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework. The connection is encrypted, doesn't go through any server, and only carries the live score — no Apple ID, no Health data, no location. Each guest needs your explicit approval to join. Personal biometrics (heart rate, calories) are stripped from any saved-match copy a guest receives.
- Online Live Score (web link). Optional and off by default. When you tap "Share online" during a match, RacketTap publishes that match's live score to a record in the public database of the same Apple CloudKit container, addressed by a long, random, unguessable link. Anyone you send the link to can open it in a web browser and follow the score with no app and no account — so, unlike your private history, this record is readable by anyone who has the link. It carries only the running score and the team names you typed: no Apple ID, no Health data (heart rate is removed before publishing), and no location. You can end it at any time with "Stop sharing" (which deletes it immediately), and it is removed automatically a few hours after the match finishes. It still goes only to Apple's CloudKit — there are no RacketTap or third-party servers.
HealthKit data specifically
In accordance with Apple's App Store and HealthKit policies, RacketTap will never share, sell, or use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than displaying it in the app itself.
In-App Purchase
RacketTap offers an optional one-time purchase called "Unlock Pro" ($2.99 USD or local equivalent), processed entirely by Apple. RacketTap never sees your card or billing details. Apple's privacy policy governs the transaction.
How to delete your data
- One match: open it in the History tab → "Delete match".
- All iPhone match history: Settings tab → "Delete all history".
- Saved players: Players tab → swipe left on any player.
- Apple Health workouts: open Apple Health → Browse → Workouts → tap the workout → Delete. (RacketTap does not control HealthKit data lifecycle.)
- Everything: uninstall RacketTap from your iPhone (and from your watch if it doesn't auto-remove) to delete all app-local data.
Children's privacy
RacketTap does not collect personal data and is suitable for users of all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
